COMMUNITY PREVENTION SERVICES:

Camp Mariposa is a year-round camping program for youth and teens impacted by substance use or overdose death of a parent, sibling, grandparent or other loved one. Utilizing evidence-based curricula and mentoring delivered through six transformational weekend camps, youth gain knowledge and build resiliency skills to understand addiction and improve health outcomes. Special events and educational support are available for parents/adult caregivers to improve communication and strengthen family bonding.

Families are Essential to Prevention (FEP) provides educational programs, skills development activities and community engagement to strengthen family relationships, support healthy communication, and increase protective factors that prevent substance use among children ages 3 to 11.

Whole Family Coaching program provides family-centered coaching based on the belief that heads of families are experts in what they need, what their strengths are, and where they face challenges individually and as a family. The Coach works with all members of the family to empower them to design pathways that support the change process.

Evidence-based prevention programs delivered within the community include: Strengthening Families Program; Too Good for Drugs & Violence; Girls Circle and Boys Circle; Parent Cafe'; Anger Management; and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).

PEER SUPPORT SERVICES:

Bridging the Gap is a certified peer support service for women and men recovering from opioid use disorder, stimulant use disorder, and other behavioral health issues who are returning to the community without a strong support system. Peers help individuals identify internal and external resources, and connect with the community of recovery to reduce the likelihood of relapse and achieve life-long recovery.

Conversation for Change (C4C) is a change-making community event hosted six times annually to provide individuals, families and community members with opportunities to speak with Peer Supporters and other professionals about their experience with substance use or mental health challenges. Treatment and recovery providers are on-site to address immediate needs, and Narcan training and kits are provided.

MIRACLE MAKERS AFTER SCHOOL AND SUMMPER CAMP PROGRAMS:

Programs include academic tutoring, mentoring, project-based learning enrichment activities (Sparks), music lessons (Q the Music), mindfulness activities, an annual musical or event, and prevention services for children. Summer Camp includes theme-focused activities, extended learning and fun for 6 weeks each summer. Proven to enhance student achievement, this program is held at Ruskin PreK-6, East End’s Neighborhood School partner.

POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT:

The Project helps young people at-risk for dropping out of school to graduate with a clear plan for post-secondary education, career/vocational development, and training. Youth receive wrap-around social-emotional supports and case management, and learn essential life skills, while also being exposed to career counseling and exploration which leads them on a path to well-paying, satisfying and stable jobs that are needed within the community, and creates individual and family self-sufficiency.

GARDENING AND NUTRITION EDUCATION:

The program addresses the breadth of food access needs existing within our target zone of inner east and north Dayton; working closely with diverse project partners to meet those we serve wherever they are on the food insecurity spectrum– from immediate hunger relief to gaining deep knowledge of gardening through at-home garden installations.
